About this place
Ma Yau Tong Rest Garden Playground is a public outdoor neighborhood space nestled in a mountain pass in Tseung Kwan O. Operated by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of Hong Kong, it offers a quiet, uncrowded garden environment where local families can bring children to enjoy standard play facilities (like climbing frames and slides) and let them run around to burn off energy in a breath of fresh air.
Things to know
Strict Non-Smoking Zone
Smoking is entirely prohibited throughout the rest garden and playground area.
Bring the Essentials
There are no food kiosks or shops on-site. Parents should pack water bottles, snacks, sun hats, and mosquito repellent (highly recommended between April and October).
Time the Visit
To avoid peak Hong Kong humidity and heat, the best times to visit are early mornings (8:00 AM to 10:00 AM) or late afternoons (after 4:00 PM).
Check the Weather
Since the facility is outdoors and fully exposed, keep an eye on the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) app. If an Amber rainstorm warning or higher is active, the area will clear out quickly and offers limited shelter.

Take any bus via Po Lam Road (such as 98A, 98C, 95, 290, or 290X) and get off at Ma Yau Tong Village stop. The park entrance is a brief 3 to 4-minute walk (approx. 130 meters southeast) away.
Driving is not recommended as there is no on-site public parking. Drop-offs can be made along Po Lam Road near the entrance track of Ma Yau Tong Village.
Taxis can drop you off along Po Lam Road near Ma Yau Tong Village. From there, follow the village path on foot for a few minutes to reach the garden.
