About this place
Tucked inside the scenic 5.3-hectare Hong Kong Velodrome Park, this free public playground is a popular local spot for families. It features unique, modern play equipment designed to challenge children's coordination and agility. Families visit to let their kids run free, picnic on the expansive lawns, admire the seasonal blossoms, and take advantage of the sports facilities, such as the adjacent skatepark, model boat pool, and the indoor playroom within the Velodrome itself.
Things to know
Beat the Heat
The outdoor playground has very limited shade. The best times to visit during warm months are early morning (8:00 am to 10:00 am) or late afternoon (after 4:00 pm).
Pack the Essentials
Bring water bottles, sun hats, and mosquito repellent (crucial between April and October). Aside from park vending machines, there are minimal on-site shops.
No Scooters or Bikes on Walkways
Riding bicycles or scooters is strictly prohibited on the main pedestrian walkways of the park. However, kids can ride on the designated cycling track that runs along the periphery of the park.
Indoor Playroom Backup
If the weather turns, families can walk inside the air-conditioned Velodrome to use the indoor play room (free of charge but session-based).
