Jockey Club Cheung Chau Tung Wan Children's Playground
Busy times
About this place
A public, outdoor beachfront playground situated on Cheung Chau island, managed by Hong Kong's Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). Families visit this park to let their children enjoy outdoor play equipment while soaking up ocean breezes and panoramic coastal views of the adjacent Tung Wan Beach.
Things to know
Car-Free Environment
Because Cheung Chau has no private cars or taxis, the only way to get here is on foot or by bicycle after arriving on the island via ferry.
Beach-Ready Gear
The playground borders the popular Tung Wan Beach. It is highly recommended to pack swimsuits, sand play toys, towels, and a change of clothes so kids can transition easily between the play structures and the beach.
Beat the Sun and Heat
Since it is a coastal outdoor playground with minimal shade, daytime temperatures can get extremely hot. Bring sun hats, high-SPF sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and plenty of drinking water.
Rainy Day or Heatwave Backup
If the weather turns bad or the heat becomes too intense, the Cheung Chau Sports Centre is a very short walk away (under 2 minutes). It features a free, indoor air-conditioned Children's Playroom themed around the island's famous Bun Festival and Cheung Po Chai Cave.
