About this place

Located on the scenic island of Cheung Chau, this outdoor children's playground is integrated into the larger Cheung Chau Sports Ground facility. Families visit the venue to escape the urban rush and enjoy a relaxed, vehicle-free environment. Kids can burn off energy on the climbing frames and play equipment, while older family members make use of the sports courts, the 250-meter running track, or take a short walk to the nearby beach.

Things to know

Beat the Humidity

As this is an entirely outdoor playground with limited canopy shade, it is best to visit before 10:00 AM or after 4:00 PM during hot months to avoid peak sun exposure.

Pack the Essentials

Bring sunscreen, hats, mosquito repellent (especially from April to October), and plenty of snacks. There are no retail shops located inside the sports ground itself.

Hydration On-Site

The sports ground features an excellent public drinking fountain that supplies cold, filtered water, perfect for refilling reusable water bottles.

Restroom Facilities

On-site toilets, changing rooms (men's and ladies'), and dedicated wheelchair-accessible toilets are available on-site.

Good to know

Is there a fee?
No. Public playgrounds in Hong Kong are free to enter and run by the LCSD.
What ages is this best for?
Most LCSD playgrounds suit ages 2 to 12, with separate toddler and older kid equipment. The exact setup varies by site.
What is the best time to go?
Mornings before noon are cooler and quieter, and late afternoon after the school rush works well too. In summer, avoid roughly noon to 3pm.
