About this place

Established in 1962, the Hong Kong Museum of Art is the city's premier public art museum. Nestled on the scenic Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, it houses an expansive collection of over 17,000 art pieces spanning traditional Chinese calligraphy, antiquities, historical paintings, and contemporary masterpieces. Families flock here to experience interactive art installations, take advantage of dedicated child-friendly educational kits, and admire panoramic floor-to-ceiling views of Victoria Harbour.

Good to know

Is there an admission fee for children at the Hong Kong Museum of Art?
No. Admission to the permanent galleries is completely free for everyone (both adults and children). Special or temporary collaborative exhibitions may require an extra ticketing fee, though younger children (under 4) typically remain free.
Can I bring a stroller, and is the museum easy to navigate with one?
Yes! The museum is very stroller-friendly, with smooth ramps and spacious elevators connecting all five floors. If you do not want to bring your own, the museum provides free stroller rentals at the Ground Floor reception desk on a first-come, first-served basis.
Are there baby-care and breastfeeding rooms inside the museum?
Yes. There are two designated baby-care and breastfeeding rooms equipped with nursing facilities, located in the exhibition galleries on the Ground Floor (G/F) and the 3rd Floor (3/F).
Is the museum interactive enough to keep energetic toddlers entertained?
While the primary collections are traditional gallery spaces, children are kept engaged through the "Small Small World Panorama" interactive installation (featuring lights and sounds triggered by buttons), free drawing and sketching sheets available at the reception, and dedicated child-friendly worksheet guides.
What are the dining options inside or nearby for hungry children?
The museum grounds host INK, a casual harbor-view outdoor terrace seafood bar that is fast and very kid-friendly. There is also Hue Lounge for formal, sit-down dining. Alternatively, the museum is steps away from K11 MUSEA and the Salisbury Road waterfront, which offer plenty of kid-friendly dining and food courts.
