About this place

Housed in the beautifully preserved 1914 Edwardian Classical monument building Kom Tong Hall in the Mid-Levels, this museum provides a comprehensive overview of the life and career of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Families visit to explore interactive historical exhibitions, participate in heritage activities, and admire the stunning colonial architecture, featuring colorful stained-glass windows, a teak staircase, and grand Greek-style granite columns.

Things to know

No Onsite Parking

Street parking and metered spaces in the Mid-Levels are highly restricted and often suspended for local events. Public transit is strongly advised.

Stroller & Terrain Tips

The museum is in the steep Mid-Levels. While lifts are available inside, narrow corridors and heritage layouts make bulky strollers difficult to navigate. Baby carriers are highly recommended.

No Luggage Storage

The museum does not have a cloakroom or luggage storage facilities. Avoid bringing large backpacks, heavy baggage, or oversized strollers.

Strict Facility Rules

No eating, drinking, or smoking is permitted anywhere inside the museum galleries. Video recording is prohibited, and photography of specific restricted exhibits is not allowed.

No, admission is completely free. Since August 2016, permanent exhibitions have been free to the public, and special exhibitions launched upon the museum's reopening are also free of charge.
What is the easiest way to reach the museum with young kids?
The most child-friendly route is taking the MTR to Central Station (Exit D2), walking to the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator, riding it up to Caine Road, and walking 5 minutes west along the flat pavement to Castle Road. Taking a taxi directly to the gate is another seamless option.
