About this place

Ma Wat Wai Children's Playground is a small outdoor public facility managed by the LCSD. Located in the historic Lung Yeuk Tau area of Fanling, it sits directly in front of the traditional Ma Wat Wai walled village on a former village fish pond. It is a great spot for local families to enjoy quick, casual play and serves as a brief rest stop for visitors exploring the Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail.

Things to know

Extremely Small Size

This is a highly localized, basic playground with very limited playing apparatus. It is best for a quick stretch rather than a destination trip.

Walled Village Heritage

The playground sits adjacent to Ma Wat Wai, a historic walled village founded during the Qianlong reign. The entrance tower is a declared monument, perfect for an educational walk.

Nearby Public Toilets

There are no public toilet facilities directly inside the playground itself, but the Ma Wat Tsuen Public Toilet is located nearby within walking distance.

No Smoking Policy

In alignment with LCSD regulations for public pleasure grounds, this playground is a designated smoke-free venue.

Is there a fee?
No. Public playgrounds in Hong Kong are free to enter and run by the LCSD.
What ages is this best for?
Most LCSD playgrounds suit ages 2 to 12, with separate toddler and older kid equipment. The exact setup varies by site.
Are there toilets nearby?
Usually yes. Most LCSD parks have public toilets within a five minute walk, and the nearest MTR station is a good backup.
What is the best time to go?
Mornings before noon are cooler and quieter, and late afternoon after the school rush works well too. In summer, avoid roughly noon to 3pm.
