Liu Pok Playground
Busy times
About this place
Managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), Liu Pok Playground is a public village recreation space. It is popular with local families, cyclists, and hikers exploring the northern New Territories who come to enjoy its straightforward outdoor play area and concrete basketball court away from urban crowds.
Things to know
No Permit Required
Liu Pok Village was officially released from the Frontier Closed Area restriction in June 2013. It is now completely open to the public without any special permit.
Pack Your Own Supplies
There are virtually no convenience stores, supermarkets, or restaurants right next to the playground. Parents should bring plenty of drinking water, snacks, sun protection, and a small first-aid kit.
Mosquito Protection
Given its rural setting near natural wetlands, fields, and hills, mosquitoes can be active. It is strongly recommended to apply insect repellent, especially from April to October.
Beat the Heat
Since the playground is fully outdoor with limited natural shade, the best times to visit during warm months are early morning (8:00 AM to 10:00 AM) or late afternoon (after 4:00 PM).
