About this place

Tong Ming Street Park Playground is an outdoor public play facility situated within the 1.4-hectare Tong Ming Street Park. Opened in March 2013, this clean and beautifully landscaped park acts as a pedestrian connector between Tseung Kwan O's residential estates, the MTR station, and neighboring shopping malls. The playground features classic outdoor structures, slides, climbing frames, and grassy lawns, offering local families a quiet, hassle-free space for children to burn off energy.

Things to know

Stroller Access

The park is highly accessible. A long, 195-meter elevated barrier-free ramp directly connects the first floor of PopCorn Mall to the park, making it extremely stroller-friendly.

Beat the Heat

Since the park is entirely outdoor with minimal shaded covers over the equipment, the best time to visit during humid months is early morning (8:00 AM to 10:00 AM) or late afternoon (after 4:00 PM).

Pack the Basics

Ensure you bring water bottles, sun hats, and mosquito repellent (crucial from April to October). While there are drinking fountains and a beverage vending machine inside the park, there are no retail shops on-site.

Rain Check

Because it is an outdoor venue, the playground empties quickly during rain. It is recommended to check the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) app for rainstorm warnings.

Good to know

Is there an entry fee for the playground?
No, the Tong Ming Street Park Playground is a public recreation space run by the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and is completely free to enter.
Are there public toilets nearby?
Yes, there is a dedicated public toilet block located right next to the children's playground. They are wheelchair-accessible and generally kept very clean.
Can children ride bikes or scooters inside the park?
Although parents occasionally let toddlers practice with small balance toys on the flat paved paths, standard LCSD rules prohibit active cycling and scooting inside the park to protect pedestrians. For dedicated cycling tracks, families should head to the nearby Hong Kong Velodrome Park.
Are there food options nearby?
Yes. While the park itself only has a beverage vending machine, it is practically connected to major malls like TKO Spot and PopCorn, which boast numerous family-friendly restaurants, supermarkets, and cafes.
Is the equipment safe for toddlers?
Yes. The playground is split into two separate sections to ensure safety: one area designed with lower structures for toddlers under 5 years old, and a separate climbing/slide area for children aged 5 to 12.
