About this place

The Shed HK is an experiential learning and outdoor adventure organization providing holiday camps, school programs, and weekend activities. It is perfect for families who want their kids to step out of their comfort zones, build confidence, and connect with nature through hands-on wilderness and community exploration.

Things to know

Unaccompanied Format

All main holiday programs and outdoor camps are intentionally designed to be unaccompanied. Parents and domestic helpers are not permitted to join the daily sessions, allowing children to build self-reliance and focus on group dynamics.

Central Transport Included

For outdoor programs, centralized drop-off and pick-up are arranged at the Hong Kong Central Post Office or Central Pier No. 5. A private shuttle bus transports the children safely to and from the daily locations.

Hikes and Water Play

Children will get muddy, climb rocks, and splash in streams or beaches. It is highly recommended that parents closely follow the daily packing list, which typically includes water shoes, a full change of clothing, hats, sun protection, and insect repellent.

Continuous Parent Updates

To keep families connected during unaccompanied camps, lead mentors create a dedicated WhatsApp group chat before the program begins. They share schedule updates, logistics, and real-time photos of the children's daily adventures.

Good to know

Can parents or caregivers accompany their child during the sessions?
No, the programs are designed to be unaccompanied. This structure allows children to fully immerse themselves in the group challenges, connect deeply with nature, and build independent problem-solving skills.
What is the ratio of staff to children during outdoor sessions?
To maintain a highly supportive and safe environment, The Shed runs on tight supervision ratios: a 1:4 mentor-to-child ratio for younger age groups (ages 3 to 8) and a 1:6 ratio for older groups (ages 9 to 12).
What happens if we are late for the morning drop-off?
Because the shuttle bus departures from the Hong Kong Central Post Office are strictly timed, latecomers cannot be accommodated as the bus must leave on schedule. Parents are asked to notify the lead mentor via WhatsApp immediately if they expect any delays.
How are dietary restrictions and medications handled on camp?
Any medication must be clearly labeled in a ziplock bag with detailed dosage instructions and highlighted in the registration form. For programs involving cooking, all menus are carefully designed to accommodate registered allergies and dietary needs.
How does The Shed differ from a standard outdoor recreational camp?
Rather than just focusing on physical activities, The Shed works around a progressive curriculum. Sessions begin and end with community circles to practice reflection, and children participate in diverse projects like building bug hotels, planning and cooking meals, and farming.
