About this place

Managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), Po Wing Road Playground is a popular community park in Sheung Shui. It is highly frequented by local families for its inclusive children's play equipment, hard-surface soccer pitch, elderly fitness area, and pet-friendly facilities. Additionally, it sits directly adjacent to the Po Wing Road Sports Centre, which houses one of Hong Kong's largest and most famous indoor children's playrooms.

Things to know

Age-Segregated Equipment

To keep younger children safe, play spaces are split into two main sections: a toddler section (ages 2 to 5) with a mild climbing frame and small slide, and a kid's section (ages 5 to 12) featuring a slide, climbing frame, seesaw, and interactive play panels.

Weather Protection

The outdoor play area is fully exposed with limited natural shade. If visiting during hot or humid months, plan to go before 10:00 AM or after 4:00 PM, and pack plenty of water, hats, and mosquito repellent.

Dog-Friendly Outing

If you have a family dog, the venue features a designated Pet Park sitting-out area immediately adjacent to the main grounds, equipped with a dog latrine, dog-friendly drinking fountain, and benches.

Park Transformation Project

Under the government's "Imagine Your Play Spaces" initiative, the playground's public play space is undergoing planning for a complete transformation. The winning design proposal features a vibrant "Play Farm" theme with rich colors, cheese-inspired structures, and sensory play nets.

Good to know

Is there an entrance fee for the playground or the indoor playroom?
No. Both the outdoor Po Wing Road Playground and the indoor playroom inside the adjacent Po Wing Road Sports Centre are 100% free of charge.
What is the backup plan if it starts raining or gets too hot?
You can head directly into the adjacent indoor Po Wing Road Sports Centre, which hosts the district's largest indoor Children's Play Room (370 sq. meters). It features a popular "Around the World" travel theme complete with indoor slides, colorful rope climbing nets, and soft play areas.
How do we get tickets for the indoor playroom next door?
Entry is on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission tickets are distributed physically at the venue 30 minutes before each session begins. Sessions run hourly for 30 to 50 minutes throughout the day, and they fill up quickly on weekends.
Are there diaper-changing or nursing facilities on-site?
Yes. The outdoor playground has standard toilets and changing rooms, but if you need to nurse or change a diaper, the adjacent Sports Centre contains a clean, dedicated Babycare Room.
Can we bring toys, bicycles, or pets onto the children's playground?
General pets and bicycles are not permitted on the active children's play structures or soccer pitches. However, you can walk dogs in the designated Pet Park sitting-out area located on the edge of the playground.
