About this place

Mega Ice is an indoor Olympic-sized ice rink measuring 26 meters by 57 meters, located in the Beehive Atrium on the 10th floor of the MegaBox shopping mall in Kowloon Bay. Families visit this premier venue to enjoy leisure skating sessions against a dramatic backdrop of a 30-meter-high glass wall looking out over Victoria Harbour, or to enroll kids in professional figure skating, speed skating, and ice hockey classes.

Things to know

Dress Code Requirements

The ice rink is cold. Children should wear long pants, a long-sleeved athletic top, and thick socks. Gloves are mandatory for all skaters. You can purchase gloves on-site, but they are not available for rent.

Bring Protective Gear

While the venue provides ice skates, it is highly recommended to bring your own helmets, knee pads, wrist guards, and elbow pads for younger children and beginners, as these safety items are not routinely rented out during public sessions.

Octopus Card for Lockers

Electronic lockers are available on-site to store bags and shoes for HKD 10 to HKD 12 per use. They are single-use, meaning if you open the locker during your session to retrieve something, you will have to pay the fee again to re-lock it.

Session Restrictions

Skaters must leave the ice at the end of their designated session. Leaving the venue void of a pass requires you to purchase a new regular admission ticket to re-enter.

Good to know

Are skating aids (like plastic penguins or seals) available for young children or beginners?
Mega Ice does not routinely rent out plastic skating aids during standard public sessions like some other local rinks do. However, during specific summer or promotional windows, they offer a "Skating Helper" experience for an additional fee (which is often discounted by 50% for visitors who follow their official social media pages).
Do we need to pay extra to rent ice skates?
No. The cost of a public session ticket includes the rental of standard ice skates (the rate is the same for both adults and children).
Can parents enter the rink area to watch or assist their children without paying?
Skaters aged 11 or under are permitted to have one non-skating parent or guardian accompany them into the rink area for free. Other non-skating spectators or companions who wish to enter the immediate rink-side viewing area must pay a spectator entry fee. Alternatively, parents can watch for free from the open mall corridors and adjacent restaurants on Level 10 that directly overlook the ice.
Is it cheaper to buy tickets at the door or online?
It is generally cheaper and more secure to buy tickets online in advance through platforms like Klook or the official Mega Ice app. Doing so guarantees your spot, as sessions can sell out, especially on weekends and holidays.
Are there nursing and baby care facilities nearby for families with younger siblings?
Yes, MegaBox is exceptionally family-friendly. The mall provides a total of 10 designated parent/nursery rooms equipped with diaper-changing stations, breastfeeding facilities, and hot water dispensers, located across various levels including G, L1, L2, L4 (inside IKEA), L5, and L6.
