About this place

Operated by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), Cheung Hang Village Playground is a small, quiet, and secluded outdoor space near the boundary of Lai Chi Kok and Kwai Chung. It primarily serves as a local neighborhood spot where families can bring young children to play on basic equipment like slides and climbing frames in a peaceful, natural environment.

Things to know

Watch for Village Dogs

The playground is located in a secluded village setting. Local visitor reviews advise parents to keep an eye out for local village or stray dogs that may roam the access paths, and to watch the ground for dog waste.

Bring Your Own Supplies

There are no convenience stores or shops directly on site. Parents should pack water bottles, sun hats, sunscreen, and plenty of mosquito or insect repellent, especially from April to October.

Best Visiting Times

Because the playground is fully outdoors and has limited shade, the most comfortable visiting windows to avoid intense humidity are 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM or after 4:00 PM.

Very Compact Size

The playground is extremely small. It is best visited as a quick stop during a larger family walk or hike up towards the Kowloon Reservoirs or Kam Shan Country Park rather than a standalone day-trip destination.

Getting here

By MTR

The closest stations are Lai Chi Kok Station or Mei Foo Station. Walking directly from the MTR station involves a steep, uphill walk of approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

By Bus

Take routes 31B, 32, 35A, 36B, 38, 42C, or the Mong Kok to Shek Lei Pui red minibus. Get off at 'Castle Peak Road (Kwai Chung, near Greenwood Villas Phase 1)' or 'Chung Shan Terrace' and walk 10 to 12 minutes uphill.

By car

Driving is highly discouraged as the playground is located in a restricted village area with narrow roads and no public parking spaces.

By Taxi

Take a taxi or rideshare from Lai Chi Kok or Mei Foo MTR stations and ask to be dropped off near Cheung Hang Road or Cheung Hang Village to avoid the steep uphill climb.

Good to know

Is there a fee?
No. Public playgrounds in Hong Kong are free to enter and run by the LCSD.
What ages is this best for?
Most LCSD playgrounds suit ages 2 to 12, with separate toddler and older kid equipment. The exact setup varies by site.
Are there toilets nearby?
Usually yes. Most LCSD parks have public toilets within a five minute walk, and the nearest MTR station is a good backup.
What is the best time to go?
Mornings before noon are cooler and quieter, and late afternoon after the school rush works well too. In summer, avoid roughly noon to 3pm.
