Managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre is a multi-purpose indoor sports facility situated on the Sai Ying Pun waterfront. Families love visiting this sports centre for its completely free, indoor children's playroom, which is a perfect haven for rainy or hot days. It is also conveniently located right next to a public swimming pool and an expansive outdoor memorial park featuring a giant grassy lawn and an outdoor playground.

Things to know

First-Come, First-Served Access

No advance booking is available. Tickets are distributed on-site with capacity strictly capped at 30 children per session. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early to secure your spot.

Socks are Mandatory

Both kids and supervising parents must wear socks to enter the carpeted play area. Shoes are not allowed inside.

Sessional Cleaning Breaks

The playroom is cleared and closed for 15 minutes between the 45-minute sessions for routine cleaning and disinfection.

Stroller & Baby Amenities

The sports centre features a dedicated baby care room and designated stroller parking zones in the playroom waiting area.

Getting here

By MTR

Take the Island Line to Sai Ying Pun Station (Exit A2) and walk north for 7 to 10 minutes, crossing the pedestrian footbridge. Alternatively, walk 10 to 15 minutes from Sheung Wan Station (Exit D) along the waterfront.

By Bus

Numerous bus routes stop near the park, including 1, 3A, 4, 5B, 7, 10, 18, 37A, 37B, 71, 91, 94, 101, 104, 113, 905, 930, 930X, and 968.

By car

Drive along Connaught Road West and turn onto Eastern Street North. The fee-charging sports centre car park will be on your right.

By Taxi

Taxis can drop off passengers directly at the Eastern Street North roundabout next to the sports centre.

By Walking

Walk from Sai Ying Pun neighborhood using the covered pedestrian footbridge that safely crosses Connaught Road West.

Is there an admission fee for the playroom?
No. The Children's Play Room is a completely free public service provided by the Hong Kong Government.
Can I reserve a spot online for my child?
No. You cannot book playroom sessions in advance. Admission operates purely on a first-come, first-served basis.
Can toddlers under the age of 4 play here?
Yes, but they must be closely supervised and accompanied by an adult guardian at all times. The play structures are optimized for ages 4 to 9.
Do adults need to wear socks inside the room?
Yes. To maintain hygiene, both children and supervising adults must wear socks to step onto the safety mats.
Is there a limit to how long my kids can play?
Yes. Play sessions are capped at 45 minutes to allow staff to clean the facility and cycle through other waiting families.
