About this place

Sandbox VR is an advanced, indoor virtual reality center that offers a highly immersive, socially interactive gaming experience. By utilizing full-body motion capture, haptic vests, and custom trackers, the venue turns your physical body into the controller. Work together in teams of up to six to survive zombie apocalypses, hunt prehistoric dinosaurs, or solve pirate-themed puzzles.

Things to know

Adult Supervision Required

Children under 18 years old must have a parent or guardian physically present at the venue during check-in to sign the minor waiver form.

Arrive Early

Please arrive 15 to 30 minutes before your booked time. There is a strict 5 minute grace period, and arriving late will shorten your session or forfeit your booking.

Wear Comfortable Clothes

Wear light, breathable clothing and flat shoes like sneakers. Gearing up and moving around is a physical workout, and you will likely sweat.

Wear Contact Lenses

Normal eyeglasses may not fit comfortably under the VR headset or can cause fogging. If your child is short-sighted, contact lenses are highly recommended.

There is no parking in the building. Drive to Times Square Car Park on Sharp Street East, park, and walk 1 to 2 minutes to the venue.

Good to know

Can my child wear glasses inside the VR headset?

It is highly recommended to wear contact lenses instead. While very small frames may fit, contacts provide a much more comfortable and fog-free experience.

Is my 7-year-old allowed to play if they are tall enough?

No, the experience is strictly restricted to children aged 8 and older who are at least 1.2 meters (48 inches) tall, as the heavy gear cannot calibrate properly on smaller frames.

Do I have to play with my kids or can I just watch?

Parents do not need to buy a ticket to play. You must stay to sign waivers for kids under 18, but you can wait in the lobby and watch live video feeds of them playing.

Will my child experience motion sickness or dizziness?

Motion sickness is extremely rare (under 1%). Since Sandbox VR is free-roaming, your child's real-world movements match their in-game movement, preventing dizziness.

What do we get to take home from the experience?

You will receive a personalized, cinematic highlight video showing your real-world reactions side-by-side with your in-game footage, sent directly to your email.
