Good to know

Is the Hong Kong Film Archive free to enter?
Yes. General admission to the Archive building, its exhibition hall (Ground Floor), and the Resource Centre (3rd Floor) is completely free. You only need to purchase tickets if you wish to watch a scheduled movie screening in the cinema.
Are the movies screened here suitable for English-speaking kids?
It varies by screening. Most classic Hong Kong films are shown in Cantonese or Mandarin with both English and Chinese subtitles. For children-specific events like the "Summer Family Cine Fest," some films feature live Cantonese dubbing with no subtitles, while others are in English with bilingual subtitles. Parents should check the specific movie details on the official website before purchasing tickets.
Can my children read books or watch videos in the Resource Centre?
Yes, the 3rd-floor Resource Centre contains a vast catalog of film-related books, comics, and magazines that kids can browse freely. To watch archival audiovisual materials, you must apply for a temporary "Audiovisual Materials Viewing Card". Keep in mind that children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult and must keep quiet.
Can I bring a baby stroller inside?
Yes. The building has wide walkways, step-free access, and elevators, making it highly accessible and easy to navigate with a baby stroller.
Is there a cafe or dining space inside the building?
No, there are no dining options inside the archive, and food and drinks are prohibited in the exhibition and screening rooms. However, the Archive is located steps away from the Sai Wan Ho waterfront (Soho East) and the Tai On Building, both of which are famous for child-friendly restaurants and local street food.
