About this place

The Shan Tung Street Sitting-out Area is a unique, split-level public park managed by the LCSD. Nestled underneath flyovers next to the Cordis Hotel and Langham Place, it serves as a green micro-park. The ground level features tranquil water fountains, a small pond with a rocky waterfall, cobblestone paths, and cute wood-themed deer structures. The upper level, connected via a spiral staircase and a long accessible ramp, houses a quiet, wood-themed children's playground. Families visit to take a shaded, peaceful break from the intense heat and heavy shopping crowds of Mong Kok.

Things to know

The Playground is Hidden Upwards

Many families walk past the park without realizing a playground exists. The children's play area is located on the upper level (second floor platform) and is accessed via a spiral staircase next to the hotel or a very long, stroller-friendly wheelchair ramp.

Excellent Rain and Sun Protection

Because it sits largely under the structural flyovers, the play area is well-protected from direct sunlight and sudden rain showers, making it a reliable spot to escape the mid-day heat or unexpected downpours.

No Restrooms Onsite

There are no public toilets directly inside the sitting-out area itself. However, clean toilets are easily accessible inside the adjacent Mong Kok Complex (which houses the Cooked Food Market) or across the bridge inside the Langham Place mall.

Weekend Crowds

Due to its central location next to transit points, the lower level is very popular for domestic workers resting on Sundays, which can make the seating areas quite crowded.

Good to know

Where exactly is the children's playground located?
It is on the second level (upper deck) of the park. If you are on the ground floor, you can reach it by taking the spiral staircase facing the Cordis Hotel or by walking up the long wheelchair/stroller ramp.
Does it cost anything to enter the park or use the playground?
No. It is a public pleasure ground managed by the LCSD and is completely free of charge.
What kind of play equipment is up on the second level?
The play area is very small and basic, featuring a simple wood-themed climbing structure and some decorative wooden logs. The lower level also has cute wooden deer sculptures that children enjoy looking at.
Is there a baby care room or toilet nearby?
There are no baby-changing facilities or restrooms directly inside the park. However, parents can find clean public restrooms and nursing facilities in the adjacent Langham Place shopping mall or the Mong Kok Complex.
Can we bring strollers easily into the park?
Yes. While there are stairs, there is also a very long, wide, and flat concrete ramp that connects the ground-level street straight up to the upper playground, making it fully stroller-accessible.
