About this place

Man Cheong Street Park is a peaceful public park managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) located in the historic Ferry Point neighborhood of Yau Ma Tei. Spanning 2,600 square meters, it serves as a multi-generational outdoor space. Families, neighborhood kids, and pet owners visit to escape the busy Kowloon streets, utilizing its dedicated children's playground, elderly fitness corner, community farming allotment, and pet-friendly lawns.

Things to know

Co-existence with Pets

Man Cheong Street Park is famous for containing Hong Kong's very first pet garden (opened in May 2008). Expect to see many dogs running around the designated, fenced-off turf areas.

Basic Restrooms

There are no permanent brick-and-mortar public restrooms inside the immediate park area. The park is serviced by portable toilets, including accessible portable toilets for persons with disabilities.

No Convenience Shops

There are no retail kiosks inside the park. Make sure to pack your own water, snacks, sun protection, and mosquito repellent (especially between April and October).

Community Farming

Parents can walk children through the community garden zone, which houses close to 100 garden pots where local residents participate in urban hobby farming.

Getting here

By MTR

Take the Tuen Ma Line to Austin MTR Station. The park is a 4 to 6-minute walk from the station. Alternatively, Jordan MTR Station (Tsuen Wan Line) or Kowloon MTR Station (Tung Chung Line) are roughly a 10 to 12-minute walk away.

By Bus

Numerous bus routes serve the Ferry Street and Jordan Road corridors. Look for buses heading towards West Kowloon Station Bus Terminus, Jordan, or Yau Ma Tei.

By car

Drive toward the junction of Ferry Street and Yan Cheung Road in Yau Ma Tei. Since there is no on-site parking, you can park at the nearby Man Wui Street Outdoor Car Park or use local metered street parking spaces.

By Taxi

Taxis can easily drop families off at the intersection of Ferry Street and Yan Cheung Road.

By Walking

Pedestrians can comfortably walk to the park from the surrounding residential block towers of Man Wah San Chuen (historically known as the 'Eight Man Buildings').

Good to know

Is there an admission fee for the playground?
No, like all public parks and playgrounds managed by the LCSD in Hong Kong, admission is completely free.
What kinds of play equipment does the playground have?
The children's play area features standard outdoor structures designed for younger children, including climbing frames and slides set on safety rubber floor matting.
Are dogs allowed near the children's playground?
While the park contains a dedicated, fenced-off Pet Garden where dogs play off-leash, dogs must be kept on a leash in the shared general pathways of the park to ensure safety around children.
Where are the closest proper restrooms?
While the park has portable toilets, parents with young kids who prefer permanent, cleaner restrooms often use the public facilities inside the nearby Austin MTR Station.
Is it a crowded playground?
Generally, no. Compared to other urban playgrounds like the nearby Saigon Street Playground, Man Cheong Street Park is considered a quieter, more relaxed neighborhood space.
