About this place

Hang Hong Street Garden is a quiet, public playground managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of Hong Kong. Tucked away in Ma On Shan, it serves as a neighborhood gem where families go to let their kids burn off energy in a less congested, spacious garden setting that feels quieter than the busier main town parks.

Things to know

Temporary Closures

From late February 2026 to late September 2026, parts of the garden (including the pavilion, pebble walking path, and children's play facilities for ages 2 to 5) are temporarily closed for cover and drainage renovation works. The rest of the park remains open.

Beat the Heat

The playground is completely outdoors and has minimal shade. To beat the intense Hong Kong heat and humidity, we recommend visiting between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, or after 4:00 PM.

Bring Snacks and Water

Be sure to bring your own snacks and water bottles, as there are no convenience stores or drink stalls directly inside the garden.

Educational Walk

The garden paths feature unique educational bronze statues representing traditional Chinese idioms, making it a great learning walk for older children.
