About this place

Green Liveable City is a vibrant, permanent interactive exhibition designed by OVAL Design for the Planning Department of the Hong Kong government, located on the first floor (1/F) of City Gallery. This dynamic space aims to transform children and teenagers into future leaders of sustainability. Featuring colorful themed environments, hands-on digital simulations, and sensory play, it provides an educational oasis for families. Parents bring their kids here to explore how town planning can successfully balance urban development with environmental protection.

Admission to the exhibition and the entire gallery is 100% free with no booking required, making it an excellent budget-friendly, walk-in option.

Interactive Play Zones

Explore three key areas: Green Life with a 15-minute Life Circle digital game, Climate Resilience with a simulated rainstorm city model, and Nature Conservation featuring Treehouse World.

Stroller-Friendly

The venue is highly accessible, featuring two elevators servicing all floors, wide corridors, and an on-site baby changing station.

Earn Souvenirs

Kids can play interactive mobile learning games during their visit. Completing the questions allows them to redeem small physical souvenirs at the G/F reception desk.

By MTR

Take Central Station Exit K and walk through the pedestrian subway to Edinburgh Place (5 to 7 minutes), or Hong Kong Station Exit A or B2 and walk towards City Hall (5 to 10 minutes).

By Bus

Take any bus stopping at City Hall (Connaught Road Central), including routes 2, 5X, 15C, 18, 30X, 37B, 70, 90, 260, 681, 780, 788, or A11, and walk 2 minutes.

By car

Drive towards Central to Edinburgh Place. Park at the adjacent City Hall Car Park at 1 Edinburgh Place.

By Taxi

Request drop-off at 3 Edinburgh Place, Central, right next to the Lower Block of City Hall.

Good to know

Do I need to buy tickets or register online before visiting?
No. No pre-registration or ticket purchases are required. You can simply walk in and enjoy the exhibits.
Is this suitable for very young toddlers?
Yes. While the concepts are designed for school-aged kids, low-age toddlers can enjoy the multi-sensory aspects, Treehouse World photo spots, physical coloring and origami tables, and interactive soundboard buttons.
Are the exhibits in English?
Yes, absolutely. All interactive elements, display boards, instructions, and video subtitles throughout the gallery are fully bilingual in both English and Chinese.
Can we bring our stroller inside?
Yes, the facilities are designed with wide pathways, ramp access, and multiple lifts, making it very easy to navigate with a baby stroller.
Is there a cafe or food options inside the gallery?
There are no dining facilities directly inside City Gallery, but since it is situated adjacent to Hong Kong City Hall and near Central, there are numerous kid-friendly cafes, bakeries, and restaurants just a few steps away.
