About this place

San Uk Ka Sitting-out Area is a modest, free public playground tucked away in a residential village area. Designed for a relaxed, low-key visit, it serves as a peaceful escape from the city's crowds. The venue features basic play equipment and an elderly fitness corner, surrounded by greenery, shade, and benches. It is a simple, no-fuss spot where local families and hikers can take a quiet breather and let younger kids burn off some energy.

Things to know

Pack the Essentials

There are no convenience stores directly on-site. Always pack plenty of drinking water, sun hats, a small first-aid kit, and effective mosquito repellent, which is vital from April through October.

Beat the Humidity and Heat

The playground is outdoors and can get very hot. The most comfortable times to visit are between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, or after 4:00 PM. Avoid peak summer sun between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

Check the Weather App

The park is completely open to the elements. If the Hong Kong Observatory issues an Amber rainfall warning or above, the venue empties out quickly. Use the local HKO app for updates.

Smoke-Free Zone

Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the entire boundary of this public pleasure ground.

No. Public playgrounds and sitting-out areas in Hong Kong are completely free to enter and are maintained by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).
Does the venue have public toilets?
There are no restrooms built directly inside this tiny sitting-out area. However, most LCSD public parks in the area have public village toilets within a 5-minute walk, and the nearby Tai Po Market MTR station has fully accessible facilities.
What equipment is available for kids and families?
The park contains basic play equipment geared towards toddlers and younger kids, alongside an Elderly Fitness Corner for adults to do light stretching.
