About this place

Managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of Hong Kong, Fui Sha Wai Playground is a quiet neighborhood open space located in Ping Shan, Yuen Long. It serves as a relaxed, outdoor play and resting spot for local families. The highlight of this park is its monumental Chinese Banyan tree and basic play equipment where children can play safely in a classic village environment.

Things to know

The Historic Banyan Tree

The playground features one of Yuen Long's registered Old and Valuable Trees, a massive Chinese Banyan. It has a canopy spread of over 20 meters, providing excellent natural shade to sit and rest.

Pack Essentials

There are no convenience stores directly inside the park. Parents are advised to bring plenty of drinking water, sun hats, and mosquito repellent, especially between April and October.

Beat the Heat

Since it is an open outdoor playground with minimal artificial canopy over the main play structures, it is best to visit in the morning (8:00 AM to 10:00 AM) or late afternoon (after 4:00 PM) to avoid intense midday heat.

Check the Weather

Because the facilities are completely outdoors, heavy rainfall (Amber warning or higher) will make the playground unusable. Checking the Hong Kong Observatory app before heading out is highly recommended.

What ages is this best for?
Most LCSD playgrounds suit ages 2 to 12, with separate toddler and older kid equipment. The exact setup varies by site.
Are there toilets nearby?
Usually yes. Most LCSD parks have public toilets within a five minute walk, and the nearest MTR station is a good backup.
What is the best time to go?
Mornings before noon are cooler and quieter, and late afternoon after the school rush works well too. In summer, avoid roughly noon to 3pm.
