About this place

Fortress Hill Playground is a historic public park situated on Fortress Hill Road in North Point. Historically serving as the site of the 19th century North Point Battery, this quiet hillside oasis is highly valued by local families for its outdoor children's playground, dedicated space for young children riding balance bikes, and peaceful, shaded green surroundings.

Things to know

Balance Bike Friendly

This playground is one of the few LCSD venues officially designated as a balance bike zone, making it a great, flat, and safe place for toddlers to practice riding.

Beating the Hillside Steepness

The playground is located on a steep hillside. Parents pushing heavy strollers can take advantage of the nearby escalator and elevator pedestrian link system from King's Road near MTR Exit A to significantly reduce direct uphill walking.

Fully Accessible

The venue features barrier free entry points, tactile guide paths, braille maps, and a retrofitted accessible public toilet.

Smoke-Free Environment

The entire venue is classified as a smoke free public pleasure ground, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for children.

Good to know

Is there a fee?
No. Public playgrounds in Hong Kong are free to enter and run by the LCSD.
What ages is this best for?
Most LCSD playgrounds suit ages 2 to 12, with separate toddler and older kid equipment. The exact setup varies by site.
Are there toilets nearby?
Usually yes. Most LCSD parks have public toilets within a five minute walk, and the nearest MTR station is a good backup.
What is the best time to go?
Mornings before noon are cooler and quieter, and late afternoon after the school rush works well too. In summer, avoid roughly noon to 3pm.
