Browsing the shop is free, and many children's book launches and story sessions are also free of charge, but you must reserve a spot in advance online because event space is limited.

Strollers allowed but aisles narrow

Ground-floor access through Tai Kwun is step-free for prams, but aisles can be tight during weekend events. Staff may suggest parking bulky strollers near the front entrance or seating nook.

No nursing room inside shop

There is no baby care room inside the store itself. Changing tables and private feeding amenities are available nearby in the Tai Kwun Barrack Block Visitor Centre and JC Contemporary.

No outside food or drinks

Food and drinks are not allowed inside to protect the books, though spill-proof cups and baby bottles are permitted. Several cafes and restaurants sit directly outside around the Parade Ground.

Getting here

By MTR

Take Central MTR station Exit D1 or D2, walk via Queen's Road Central to the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator up to Hollywood Road, and cross the footbridge into Tai Kwun (about 8 to 10 minutes). From Hong Kong station Exit E, walk through Central Market to reach the escalator (about 10 to 12 minutes).

By Bus

Take Citybus routes 12, 12M, 13, 26, 40M, or sightseeing bus H1 to stops on Hollywood Road, Caine Road, or Arbuthnot Road near the Tai Kwun entrances.

By car

There is no parking at Tai Kwun. Use commercial hourly car parks nearby on Arbuthnot Road, such as the Universal Trade Centre Car Park or The Centrium Car Park.
