Jockey Club Cheung Chau Tung Wan Children's Playground

About this place
Tucked away on Cheung Chau's eastern waterfront, this Jockey Club-run playground is a gem for families who've made the ferry trip out to the island. With the beach practically on your doorstep, the playground has all the essentials—slides, climbing frames, and plenty of shade to escape the Hong Kong sun. The open-air setup means kids get sea breeze and harbour views while they play, which beats the usual concrete playgrounds in the busier districts.
It's free to visit and a natural stop if you're spending a day exploring Cheung Chau. Pack a picnic, let the kids burn off energy, and soak up that island calm. A proper little escape from the city, just a short MTR + ferry ride away.

Beat the HK humidity
Best window is 8 to 10am or after 4pm. Anything in between is sweat zone unless you have proper shade and water.
Pack the basics
Water bottles, sun hats, mosquito repellent (especially April to October), and a small first aid pack. There is rarely a shop on site.
Check the rainfall warning
Amber and above means most outdoor venues empty out fast. The HKO app is faster than weather.com for Hong Kong.
